Information about bus transportation
Washoe County School District — Incline Village SchoolsThe Washoe County School District has a new web application for students and parents to help provide information about transportation on school buses. This will provide pick up and drop off times, schedule changes, as well as lots of other information for transportation in the WCSD.
Go to the WCSD website at www.washoe.k12.nv.us and under the parents heading locate Bus Schedules. Click on this to link to access e-link where you enter user name as guest, password as guest; select grade level of student; enter house number, street address and zip code. Click find school/transportation info. This should provide your bus information. If you have problems with e-link or are unable to get the information for your student call the Transportation Department at 775 -353-5900.
Bus Rules:
• Remember that riding the school bus means following rules. Backpacks or book bags are recommended for all students using the bus for transportation.
• Always obey the bus driver.
• Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before scheduled departure time, but no more than five minutes.
• Behavior at the bus stop must be orderly.
• Never run to or from the bus.
• Stand back from the curb and do not push or shove.
• Remain seated and facing forward at all times. Assigned seats or seating will be used.
• Refrain from yelling or using foul language on the bus.
• Refrain from eating, drinking, or using tobacco, drugs, or alcohol on the bus.
• Keep your hands and feet out of the aisle and to yourself.
• Do not extend any part of your body out the windows.
• Remain in your seat until the bus door is completely open.
• You must get off at your assigned stop unless prior written permission (from parent or guardian) is granted by a school official.
• You must not cross the street until the driver motions you across in front of the bus only.
• Always cross at least ten giant steps in front of the bus.
• Never crawl under or pick up anything around the bus.
All of your property must stay out of the aisle at all times.
• Any student damaging a school bus by fire or other means will be held responsible for the cost of the repair work and may be prosecuted.
• No exceptions: There will be no large objects, weapons, or animals allowed on the bus.
• There will be absolute quiet at all railroad crossings.
Breaking the rules
Students who do not choose to obey the rules will receive the following consequences determined by the driver who will weigh the severity of the action by the student. Consequences may or may not follow the sequence described below:
• First Incident (Elementary Only) — Driver issues student conduct report to be sent home to parent/guardian. Notify the school.
• Second Incident (Elementary Only) /First Citation (High School and Middle School) — Driver discusses infraction with student and depending on the severity of the infraction the driver may issue a School Bus Citation that may result in up to three days suspension of bus privileges. All School Bus Citations are given to the School Administrator. Parent/Guardian will be contacted by the driver.
• Second Citation — Same as above, but may result in 5-10 days suspension of bus privileges.
• Third Citation — Same as above, but may result in up to nine weeks suspension of bus privileges.
• Severe Disruption — The following inappropriate behavior will result in the immediate issuance of a school bus citation and may result in suspension of all transportation privileges:
• Physical harm or threat of harm to another student
• Physical harm or threat of harm to the bus driver
• Fighting, carrying weapons, smoking, use of drugs, etc.
• Property damage (damage will be paid by the offender)
• Constant refusal to obey the bus driver
• Total disruption of the bus
• Harassing or bullying of anyone
Transporting bandinstruments on school bus
A student must accompany each instrument and all instruments are to be kept in their case and under the student's seat or in their lap or between their legs. For information about the instruments that can be transported on school buses check the WCSD website.
