Crime Log 9/28

Following are reports from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office watch summaries with local color added by Justin Broglio.

Sunday, Sept. 18

A victim claimed that he had been battered at the Tahoe Biltmore. Several witnesses, who claimed they were sober, said that the victim turned around suddenly (apparently to run) after becoming involved in an argument and ran into a square mirrored post.

The subject was transported to Incline Hospital and then refused treatment. Medical personnel stated that his injury probably resulted from striking a sharp object, rather than being battered. The victim then changed his story several times and declined to make a report to police. Maybe his head hurt too much to remember what happened.

Thursday, Sept. 22

At 1:20 a.m., a Washoe County sargeant was driving past Crystal Bay Club and saw two females fighting and one lying nearby with a head injury.

The sargeant stopped and broke up the fight with a security officer from the Crystal Bay Club.

It turns out the suspect had been kicked out of the casino after hitting one of the above victims and putting a cigarette out on the back of her hand.

After being restrained and placed into the patrol car, the suspect slipped her cuffs off and attempted to kick the windows out.

While she was being re-cuffed, she punched the deputy in the head.

Fortunately he was not injured. Talk about a cat fight.

Saturday, Sept. 24

An Incline resident reported an incident where an unknown subject from Canada offered to give her 10 percent of a check if she would deposit a $30,000.

The resident deposited the check and was in the process of wiring the Canadian the money when her bank called to report that the check she deposited had been stolen. As the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true ...

Sunday, Sept. 25

Incline residents reported a suspicious vehicle parked in their neighbor's driveway on Sugar Pine.

After deputies checked out the scene, the situation turned out to a builder showing his friends the residence he was working on.

Hope the cost of the job isn't a crime ...
