...Three, two, one - what do you have planned?
Incline restaurants, bars and casinos are preparing to be inundated with New Year's Eve revelers Saturday eager to ring in 2006.
Which begs a more important question - how are you going to get home?
The answer: Call "Tipsy Tow."
The New Year's Eve tow service is offered by AAA of Northern California that will tow your vehicle home - and let you ride along.
"Start 2006 off right," said Mike Bregante, AAA senior vice president of automotive product management, in a news release. "If you've been drinking, don't get behind the wheel. Give AAA a call and we'll make sure you get home safely."
How soon you get home is, however, is another story. Russ Harris, owner of High Sierra Towing, the local AAA-affiliated company that will be providing the service in Truckee, said New Year's Eves are always overwhelming, and with only three tow-truck drivers working that night, the speed at which they respond to non-emergencies could be on the slow side.
The service is free to everyone, but limited. Customers will only be taken to locations within five miles of where they are picked up, so making plans of partying on the South Shore and being towed back to Incline obsolete.
Additional passengers can be taken so long as there is room in the tow truck. No reservations will be taken.
TART bus transportation on New Year's Eve will have extended hours, more routes and more frequent runs this year as three mini shuttles will service people all over the North Shore area, said Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association Jan Colyer.
"From the feedback in years past, people have wanted buses that last longer, not start earlier," Colyer said.
For those headed to the California side, free shuttle busses will stop at lodging properties, bars, restaurants, casinos and TART stops on Highway 89 from Tahoe City to Homewood and Squaw.
Shuttles will travel every other hour until 3 a.m.; a shuttle will travel from Tahoe City to Crystal Bay every 30 minutes until 4 a.m.
...So now that that's settled, on to the fun stuff:
At Crosby's, owner Jim Poulos is setting his grill, pub and casino up for an all-inclusive dinner and comedy show.
"It will be enjoyable all night long," Poulos said.
The venue will feature dinner, a comedy show and a safe ride home via limosine.
"(I want to) thank all the customers and give them something new, not just the norm on New Year's Eve," Poulos said.
Rookies Bar and Grill will host a complementary toast along with drink specials and a DJ spinning all night long, said Rookie's manager Sam Mott.
"Rookies is the happening place this New Year's Eve," Mott said.
The Crystal Bay Club hosts Hellbound Glory and Mumbo Gumbo along with Boogie Monsters and blues guitarist Corby Yates.
"We will be handing out party favors and there will be champagne stations around the casino," said Crystal Bay Casino marketing director Bill Wood. "There will be a balloon drop in the Crown Room at midnight."
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort Spa and Casino, one of the "a 'Lakeside Ballroom Party' with dinner and dancing" will take place at the Cut Throat Saloon, said a Hyatt spokeswoman.
The Tahoe Biltmore will host buffet dinner with live music by Havana Heat. DJ Chill and special guests will later perform at the hotel's Breeze nightclub.
