Carson Valley Days scheduled

Print Comment
MINDEN - The 96th Annual Carson Valley Days is coming back to Lampe Park in Gardnerville on June 8-11. This year's theme is "German Festival."

The Men's Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club No. 85 is hosting the affair, with a large weekend agenda planned.

"We've been hosting this event for over 50 years," said event chairman Jeremy Davidson. "This is an event not only for adults, but for their entire family. There's something for everyone."

This year, the men's club will bring a carnival with rides for all ages. On June 8, the club will offer a "Buddy Night" with two-for-one armbands for the carnival rides. The rest of the weekend, armbands will be $20. Bands can be purchased in advance at Greater Nevada Credit Union and Napa Auto Parts in Gardnerville. Pre-sale tickets are $15 if purchased prior to June 9.

The Unauthorized Rolling Stones will play 5-9 p.m. in Lampe Park on June 9 and 10.

Each night of entertainment will feature music, including impersonators of Janis Joplin and Tina Turner, with the URS capping off the evening festivities.

The parade will start 9 a.m. June 10 at Minden Park, head east on Esmeralda to Highway 395 then south on Highway 395 to finish at Lampe Park.

There will be a $1 parking charge at Herbig Park across from Lampe Park following the parade on Saturday. Parking for the rest of the event will remain the same.

A craft show, activities for children and live music will take place throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Businesses are encouraged to contact the club if they'd like to participate. Craft booths are also available for the weekend.

The Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club is asking for donations to help make the event a success, with proceeds going to special-needs children in Douglas County.

Carson RV is the grand sponsor. A raffle will take place throughout the weekend with giveaways such as a gas grill from Minden Grill Co., a custom- made swing and several gift certificates to local businesses.

To participate in the craft fair or parade, to make a donation or for additional information, contact Davidson at 220-7913 or e-mail to carsonvalley2030@yahoo.com. Visit www.carsonvalley2030.org for more information.

"I believe this is the biggest event of the year in Gardnerville, and we encourage everyone to check it out. It's always been a lot of fun," said Davidson.
