Print Comment
Are you looking for a place in Incline Village that provides stimulation, entertainment, information and a beautiful, relaxing environment in which to work, study and meet with friends? Then the Incline Village Library is the perfect place for you. The library is a cultural hub of the community, offering lifelong enrichment opportunities through access to ideas, information and the arts.

As part of the Washoe County Library System, Incline Village Library offers free fun for people of all ages. In addition to a large collection of best-sellers, children’s books, books on tape and CD, movies, magazines, newspapers and video games, the building houses six Internet stations and one Internet express station, all of which are free and open to all users. Free Wi-Fi access is also available throughout the building.

The Incline Village Library offers many cozy areas in which to read, study and meet with friends and neighbors. Couches facing a double-sided stone fireplace create a pleasant atmosphere for reading, while work tables located throughout the building offer an ideal group study atmosphere. There is an area dedicated to young children and a “teen zone” contain age-appropriate books and magazines, games computers, board games, toys and puzzles. The coffee bar and patio are just the spots for enjoying the view with a cup of java or tea.

The library’s meeting room is a venue for special events, such as acting classes, science programs and writing workshops, all of which are free and open to the public. The meeting room can also be reserved free-of-charge by groups who wish to gather there during or after regular library hours.

These days, library use is not limited to the hours that the building is open. The system’s extensive Web site at www.washoe.lib.nv.us allows patrons to browse holdings, request books to be sent to any branch and renew items online any time of the day or night.

For patrons conducting research, or just looking for an online read-along book for their children, the Web site also allows access to premium databases of books, journals and newspaper articles. The Web site’s newest feature, a link to downloadable audio books, allows patrons to load audio electronic files directly onto their MP3 players.

The Washoe County Library System makes free library cards available to many people living and/or working in the Tahoe area. In fact, if you are reading this article, there is a very good chance that you are eligible for a Washoe County library card, which entitles the holder to check out items from any of the county’s 15 branches.

Anyone living or working in Nevada or the California counties of El Dorado, Lassen, Placer, Plumas, Nevada or Sierra is eligible for a card with the presentation of acceptable identification. Call the library at (775) 832-4130 or visit the Washoe County Library Web site at www.washoe.lib.nv.us for eligibility details.

A library card allows patrons to borrow items from our superior selection of books, DVDs, videos, audio books and magazines. Even people who don’t have a Washoe County Library card can find many things to do at the library. Our Internet computers, printers and Wi-Fi, which are available to anyone walking through our doors, allow people to communicate, work on projects, manage finances and conduct research online away from home. In addition, all programs, including story times, Lifescapes writing workshops, the Village Book Talk discussion group and holiday children’s parties are free and open to all, regardless of membership.
