Chase real estate agent receives CRS designation

Chase International real estate agent Bruce Soli, located in the company's Incline Village office, recently received his CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation.

Only 4 percent of all real estate agents earn this prestigious designation (considered by many to be the MBA of real estate), which requires successful completion of a number of classes, such as finance, technology and marketing, as well as attaining certain sales volume numbers.

Tackling, overcoming poverty

The Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT) is hosting a workshop entitled, "Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities," on Thursday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach.

"We are very excited to bring the Bridges Out of Poverty Training workshop to the Tahoe-Truckee region," said Stephanie Rogerson, CCTT director. "Collaborative partners who have attended this workshop report that presenter, Jodi Pfarr, is a dynamic and compelling speaker."

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over one-fifth of the people living in the North Tahoe Truckee region (21.8 percent or 6,261 residents) lived at or below the 200 percent poverty level in 2000, which was less than $17,588 annually for an individual or $34,938 for a family of four. Adela Gonzalez del Valle, executive director of the Truckee Family Resource Center, states, "The poverty statistics in our region clarify the need for our community and social service providers to understand what being poor means."

This seminar gives both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in relating with individuals from poverty. Topics that will be addressed include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures, how those differences affect opportunities for success, developing an action plan to improve services to clients and improving retention rates for new hires from poverty. The workshop also explores the hidden language of the low, middle, and high income cultures of our society.

This seminar is based on the book Bridges Out Of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities, a collaboration between Ruby K. Payne, Philip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith. The workshop is designed for employers, community organizations, law enforcement, government officials, educators, counselors, health care and social service providers.

Pre-registration is required by April 18. For more information and to register, please contact CCTT Coordinator, Sarah Green, at 530-587-8322 or sgreen@communitycollaborative.org. Space is limited so reserve your spot today!
