In an interview with the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Sierra Mobile Pet Spa Co-Owner Stefan Tampe explains why it's better to bring the bath to the pet instead of the pet to the bath.



What influenced you to open a pet grooming business?

Nicole Schreiber and I have been working in the Information technology industry for the last 15 plus years and after Nicole's last project ended we decided we wanted to do something for ourselves. Nicole and I have always been very passionate about animals and have forever felt that she should be working with them in some capacity.

We researched franchises initially and came across a mobile pet grooming franchise and quickly realized that we could do this ourselves.

So we decided to start our own mobile pet grooming business: Sierra Mobile Pet Spa. We did our research and found that there was a high demand for a pet grooming business here in Incline Village and what better way to go than mobile? We thought, "let us come to you."

How many years experience do you two have in this profession?

We are just starting out since Nicole has changed careers. Nicole attended a very intense and detailed training for dog grooming and became professionally certified and is constantly continuing her education by attending additional classes, seminars, research, etc.

In addition, just this past weekend we both got certified in pet first aid and CPR.



What do you offer that other groomers do not?

Mobile pet grooming is very different from typical shop grooming and we have a premium full service spa with many conveniences.

We bring our spa to the customer. We have a fully self contained unit with all new state of the art equipment that we bring to the client's doorstep.

There is no transporting the pet back and forth to a shop so there is a lot less stress on the pet. The pet is not sitting in a shop all day waiting to be groomed and we never use cages.

We do not expose the pet to any other animals, and/or animal's sickness, parasites, etc. The pet receives the same groomer each visit as well as Nicole's undivided attention.



What does your menu of services look like?

We have a Standard 10 point Spa package that every client receives including complete brush out, heated hydrotherapy bath with a selection of all natural shampoos, complete fluff blow dry, after bath brush out, nail trimming, ear cleaning, paw pads cleaning and hair removal when needed depending on the breed, aromatherapy spritz, bow or bandanna and a treat. Lots of hugs and kisses are on us!



Do you offer any additional services?

We offer additional treatments which including aromatherapy, hot oil treatment, mouth hygiene treatment, de-matting, Furminator Shed-Less treatment, Spa Lavish Blueberry Facial for removal of dirt, tear stains and stains around mouth, medicated bath treatment, Spa Lavish Revitalizing Paw Treatment, nail buffing, sanitary trim, clipping, hand scissoring of feet and feathered areas.

Do you have plans for expanding your business?

Yes we do have plans on expanding our business.

We believe that around the lake there are plenty of opportunities to expand our business. We are planning to expand to another grooming van very soon to be able to serve other areas besides the North Shore.

We have already received several inquiries from Tahoe City and Truckee and we believe there are plenty of dog owners which would appreciate the luxury and advantages of mobile grooming.
