Crime log 10/10





The following are reports submitted by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Incline Village Substation for Oct. 2-9.



Tuesday Oct. 2

• A single vehicle, driven by a 56-year-old California man went into the lake south of Sand Harbor. He was transported via Care Flight to Renown Health Care. Nevada Highway Patrol handled the case.

• Multiple vehicle accident at the corner of State Route 28 and Lakeshore Boulevard. NHP handled the case.

• A child learning to walk fell and hit her head on the floor at a Mill Creek Road residence. Parents wanted her transported to the local hospital. Baby was walking around and playing when deputy and EMS arrived.



Wednesday, Oct. 3

• White male adult was grossly intoxicated playing with the ATM machine on Tahoe Boulevard. No damage. Deputies were unable to identify the subject. He registered more than .2 blood-alcohol content. Subject was transported to the Washoe County detention facility.

• Deputies responded to a report that Crystal Bay Club security chased a subject into the Tahoe Biltmore Hotel parking lot and detained him. Security reported that the suspect assaulted an employee. The reported victim, however, did not want to fill out a statement or press charges. Deputy took an incident report.

• Deputy conducted a traffic stop on State Route 28. Suspect was found to have been drinking and failed a field sobriety test which resulted in her being arrested for a second DUI. During an inventory of the vehicle the deputy located two containers with marijuana inside each and a glass marijuana smoking pipe. Suspect's passenger was also arrested for possession of marijuana.

• Two friends started arguing over the car keys in a grocery store's parking lot. Suspect decided to hit her friend and walked away. Prior to walking away, suspect took a bunch of items from the car including victim's purse, though it did not constitute a robbery.



Thursday, Oct. 4

• Deputy was driving east on State Route 28 approaching Ponderosa Avenue when a very small bear cub ran under his moving vehicle. The vehicle was not damaged; however, the bear was injured and ran into a heavily wooded area. Deputies discontinued the search for the cub since the mother's location was not known. Deputy will complete an incident report and forward a copy to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

• Deputy took a report for destruction of property at Incline Beach. An unknown subject or subjects pulled out a tree stake and broke all of the flood lights that were mounted on the exterior of the restrooms. Report taken, IVGID notified and crime scene investigation was completed.

• Neighbors reported banging in the area of a Country Club Drive business. A small brown bear was in the Nevada Department of Wildlife trap banging the door in an attempt to escape. A message was left with the NDOW.



Friday, Oct. 5

• Deputies went to serve paperwork at a Wander Way house and found the garage door open and pry marks on various windows and doorways. Nothing appeared missing. Homeowner in Arizona contacted. She will have a friend contact the sheriff's office to go through the house to confirm if anything is missing.

• Three siblings, 13- to 15-years-old were arrested for burglary at a Tyrolian Drive address. Reporting person found a pair of scissors and a hammer on the back deck. He and his wife knocked on the front door and the three juveniles ran out the back. There were pry marks on the sliding door. With the assistance of the reporting person and footprints, deputies located the juveniles at a residence at Berne. The parents were cooperative. Juveniles were identified by the reporting person. All three were transported to the Jan Evans Juvenile facility.

• Garage door was open for unknown reason at an Ophir Peak Road home. A check of the residence turned out OK. Homeowner contacted in California. He advised deputies that this happened one other time. He will look into changing the garage door code and securing the inside door.



Saturday, Oct. 6

• Deputy noticed an unusual amount of minors standing around the outside of a Tahoe Boulevard store. One of the minors walked out carrying a large case of beer and two six packs of wine coolers. Upon contact, the minor, a 19-year old, admitted to having purchased the alcohol from the female clerk at the store. Minor was cited by deputy and filled out a statement. He told the deputy that he had not been carded and a check showed he only possessed his identification showing his correct age. Deputy then contacted the clerk that sold the alcohol to minor. She admitted to not carding him and was cited for sales to a minor.

• Reporting party called to report a reckless driver headed toward Incline from the Mt. Rose Summit. Deputy located the vehicle as it was headed toward him on the wrong side of State Highway 431. Deputy pulled the vehicle over at Route 431 and Apollo Drive where the driver was found to have been drinking. Driver subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI on a .313 and .310.

• Deputy stopped driver for traffic offenses on Vue Court. Driver had no legal form of identification and could not be found on a records check. He was not eligible for a citation and was arrested for the traffic offenses.

• Deputy conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 431. Driver had no form of identification and a records check could not confirm his ID. Driver was not eligible for a citation and was arrested.

• Deputy stopped suspect for traffic offenses on Tramway Road. During the stop suspect gave the deputy consent to search his vehicle. Deputy located a metal box inside the vehicle that contained mushrooms, hydrocodone and drug paraphernalia. Suspect was arrested and transported to the Washoe County detention facility.

• Deputy conducted a traffic stop on suspect on Northwood Boulevard. During the stop suspect was found to have been drinking. He subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI.

• Deputy was flagged down by Tahoe Biltmore security after they witnessed a hit and run in the back lot of the Biltmore. The suspect vehicle left the scene into California prior to our arrival. The victim was not with his parked vehicle and could not be located. Deputy left a business card and will complete a report as soon as the victim contacts the sheriff's office.



Sunday, Oct.7

• Deputy made a pedestrian stop on Marlette Way as there have been several burglaries in that area over the past week or so. Unidentified male initially began to talk to the deputy, then unexpectedly threw his backpack at the deputy and fled on foot. The suspect disappeared around the corner of a residence on Bridger Court. Deputy waited for backup to search area in and around residence based on one occupant stating that they heard footsteps inside. House was partially cleared except for the upstairs where the tenant would not allow deputies in. She stated that she had made the noise and did not want deputies checking that area. They were unable to locate the suspect. Investigation later led to a positive identification of suspect, 29-year-old John Fayat who is also wanted on a parole violation. Investigation initiated to determine if female occupant who denied access to the residence may have been harboring a fugitive. Suspect Fayat's last known address same as residence on Bridger.

• Reporting person advised of gas siphoning from a company vehicle. Didn't have time to fill out a complaint and will do so online at a later time.

• Deputy conducted a traffic stop on suspect for traffic offenses on State Highway 431. The male suspect could not provide any form of legal identification and did not know what his address was. He was arrested on the traffic offenses since he did not meet the criteria for a citation. During a custodial search of suspect, deputy located a small amount of cocaine on suspect's person.

• Deputies responded to the Hyatt timeshares on a reported missing 11-year-old male. The reporting person said her son and a friend had gone for a walk near the creek behind the Hyatt and were overdue. While deputies were in route the reporting person called back and reported her son and friend returned. Deputy made contact with the mother and juvenile and confirmed that everything was OK.



Monday, Oct. 8

• Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Southwood Boulevard. During the stop it was discovered that the suspect had been drinking. Suspect was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, leading to his subsequent arrest for DUI.

•Units responded to a reported structure fire at Titleist Drive. Reporting party advised that his fireplace set the floor on fire and he had it extinguished.



Tuesday, Oct. 9

• Reporting party at a Lark Court address called to report that she had heard someone going through her things upstairs. She was advised to exit her house and meet with deputies out front of her house. Residence was searched from top to bottom with nothing found. While exiting the house, however, deputies were delayed by a bear on the front porch eating a bag of garbage it may have taken from the homeowner's upper deck.

• Patrol units discovered a truck backed into the driveway of a home under construction on Lakeshore Boulevard. While checking the truck, deputies heard a sound coming from the back of the residence (sounded like someone on an aluminum ladder). Residence was checked and found secure. The back gate to the beach was down and there were footprints leading away from the house. It was unknown how old the tracks were. Responsible party for the home was contacted. The responsible did not know if the truck belonged there or not, but will report anything missing.
