To honor individuals, agencies and businesses for leadership and contributions to the community, the Parasol Community Collaboration and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation will gather Saturday night at its 5th annual awards ceremony.

The Parasol Community Collaboration and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation is a local membership organization of nonprofits working together to better serve the community and a community foundation catalyzing collaboration and promoting philanthropy.

The Parasol received double the amount of nominations for this year's awards, said Parasol spokeswoman Emily Goodwin.

"It's an exciting development," Goodwin said. "I think it's a key indicator that we are meeting the mission of the collaborative to deliver resources to our community and to be strategic and progressive."

This year's ceremony will incorporate a new award to recognize someone who has promoted diversity in the community.

"This is about community wellness and diversity is paramount in reaching a goal of community wellness," Goodwin said.

The awards ceremony will feature a complimentary catered holiday cocktail reception at 5 p.m. The guest speaker for the evening is Cindy Solomon, a nationally recognized speaker, consultant and executive coach. Solomon and her organization bring together the best of cutting edge leadership development programs, real life corporate experience and best practices tactics from successful organizations around the world to help organizations create world-class leadership and customer experiences.

The awards ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Emily Goodwin by e-mail at emilyg@parasol.org or by calling (775) 298-0118.
