Tahoe Environmental Research Center
Holiday Activities
Print Comment
More than 6,000 visitors have passed through the doors of the Tahoe Environmental Research Center on the Sierra Nevada College campus since its Oct. 2006 inception.
This holiday season, they’re hoping to add more to that total with their Family Science Days.
“This should be a great activity to show everyone we’ve been around for over a year now and we’re going strong,” said Heather Segale, TERC education and outreach coordinator.
Scheduled to run from Dec. 26 to Dec. 28 and again from Jan. 2 to Jan. 4., the event will feature a number of interactive exhibits at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies for all ages and interests.
“It should be a really fun educational activity,” Segale said.
It is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day and is free of charge.
“We’ll have our docents on hand to give tours along with hands-on activities for the whole family,” Segale said.
From a 3-D tour of Lake Tahoe to a stream-building activity, Segale said there are hours of entertainment.
Most of the exhibits are appropriate for school-aged children.
“Most of our activities center around the water and snow in the Lake Tahoe basin,” Segale said.
For more information on Family Science Days call (775) 881-7566.
The Tahoe Environmental Research Center is dedicated to research, education and public outreach on lakes and their surrounding watersheds and airsheds. Lake ecosystems include the physical, biogeochemical and human environments, and the interactions among them.
