Heavenly reports this morning on its Web site that it plans to operate 29 lifts with skiing and riding on 4,800 acres, including the opening of Mott Canyon.
Groomers pick of the day is 49er. Winds may affect lift operations. Call 800.HEAVENLY or keep checking www.skiheavenly.com for the latest. Please stay in the open areas where weve done avalanche control. For your safety, hiking, skiing or riding out of bounds is prohibited. Lifts open at 9 a.m.

Terrain Parks: Powderbowl and Groove open

Open bowls: Palisades, Sentinel, Wagon Wheel, Eagle, Sunrise
Kirkwood Cross Country: Currently offering 65km of groomed track, Kirkwood's Cross Country Center will be in full operation by the end of the week with over 70 km of trails including the Agony and the Ecstasy trails which connect the lower trail system with the upper trails at Schneider Cow Camp. Winter Trails Day is on Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free snowshoe demos and seminars on winter travel and snow safety. Sierra-at-Tahoe
Today through Jan. 11, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers its Learn to Ski and Ride week deal. For $25 beginnner package includes lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental, 2.5 hours adult beginning lesson. The package normally costs $84. Packages must be purchased 24 hours in advance, online only at www.sierraattahoe.com
