Tuesday's ski and board report for Diamond Peak, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Heavenly and Kirkwood



Diamond Peak

All of Diamond Peak's lifts are open today except for Red Fox and Ridge. All trails are open. The Web site reports the base snow depth at 46 inches and the top snow depth at 78 inches. The peak has accumulated 13 inches of snow in the past 48 hours.

Heavenly Mountain Resort

Heavenly reports this morning on its Web site that it plans to operate 29 lifts with skiing and riding on 4,800 acres, including the opening of Mott Canyon.

Groomers pick of the day is 49er. Winds may affect lift operations. Call 800.HEAVENLY or keep checking www.skiheavenly.com for the latest. Please stay in the open areas where we’ve done avalanche control. For your safety, hiking, skiing or riding out of bounds is prohibited. Lifts open at 9 a.m.

Lifts:11 lifts on California side, 8 lifts on the Nevada side including Boulder and Stagecoach Express.

Terrain Parks: Powderbowl and Groove open

Forecast: Partly cloudy with light to moderate winds and temperatures in the mid 20s.

New snow: Trace

Base depth (on trails w/ snowmaking): 56 to 78 inches.

Surface conditions: Powder, Skier packed powder, machine-groomed powder

Lifts: 10 lifts open

Trails and terrain: 65 trails open, 28 trails groomed, 1 terrain park open.

New snow: none.

Roads: Highway 88 West Carson Pass Tahoe side is open as well as Highway 88 East Jackson side.

Forecast: Becoming cloudy with snow showers through the day.

Base depth:91 to 122 inches.

High angle grooming: Monte Wolfe, Zachary, Sentinel Bowl

Open bowls: Palisades, Sentinel, Wagon Wheel, Eagle, Sunrise

Kirkwood Cross Country: Currently offering 65km of groomed track, Kirkwood's Cross Country Center will be in full operation by the end of the week with over 70 km of trails including the Agony and the Ecstasy trails which connect the lower trail system with the upper trails at Schneider Cow Camp. Winter Trails Day is on Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free snowshoe demos and seminars on winter travel and snow safety. Sierra-at-Tahoe

Today through Jan. 11, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers its Learn to Ski and Ride week deal. For $25 beginnner package includes lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental, 2.5 hours adult beginning lesson. The package normally costs $84. Packages must be purchased 24 hours in advance, online only at www.sierraattahoe.com

Lifts: 6 lifts open, 43 trails open.

Forecast: More snow expected today
