Biltmore project enters next step

Developers of Boulder Bay, a destination resort planned on the Tahoe Biltmore site, submitted their application Tuesday to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

"It has been a herculean undertaking," said Lew Feldman, the project's land use counsel.

Now TRPA will review the application to make sure it's complete, then the project will be subject to a full environmental impact statement.

Feldman said the project hopes to move to this step in the next few months.

Boulder Bay will host a public forum at 7 p.m. today at the Tahoe Biltmore.

The agenda will include an update on the project, proposed master plan, road improvement proposal, traffic and access study and proposed timeline. A question and answer session will follow the meeting.

"Our priority is to work closely with the community and public officials to improve the area," Roger Wittenberg, Boulder Bay owner, said in a release. "The public forums are helpful as we move forward to increase public safety and do our best to serve the community."

One member of the community who will be there is Ann Nichols a Crystal Bay Realtor and resident who has some concerns about the impact of the project - especially when it comes to parking and traffic.

"(I became concerned) as we were investigating their proposal and what is going on and looking into all these things," Nichols said.

Nichols was previous concerned about Boulder Bay's proposal to abandon Reservoir and Wassou roads.
