Special weather statement — Wind and cold coiming our way...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WATCH, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT.
STRONG GUSTY SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH 60 MPH ARE POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE LIKELY ALONG HIGHWAY 395 FROM SUSANVILLE TO MINDEN AND IN THE TAHOE BASIN. RIDGE GUSTS COULD REACH AS HIGH AS 90 MPH.
A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR STRONG DAMAGING WINDS TO AFFECT THE AREA. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AT WEATHER.GOV/RENO.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind between 10 and 15 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Windy, with a southwest wind between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Windy, with a west wind 30 to 35 mph decreasing to between 5 and 10 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
