Students at schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District were kept indoors today but the campuses have not been placed on lock down, district officials said.

Teachers and staff were informed of the situation at Zephyr Cove and were updated accordingly by district officials at around 1:40 this afternoon.

Chief Terry Daniels from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department called school officials this afternoon to update staff. Chief Daniels gave the green light to allow students back outside, district officials said.

All schools within the district will be released at their regular end times except for the high school, which had a minimum day today.
