What's on tap for the weekend
Great American Taxi

The Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon and Barry Sless from Phil and Friends starts at 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Tahoe Biltmore. This electric-Americana group got its start as a special one-off performance for an environmental benefit in Boulder, CO, and the players gelled so well with each other and the audience that they decided to
take their show on the road. Led by Taxi driver Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, whose years of traveling the North American continent helped produce his vast catalog of southern swamp-rock, underground country and Guthrie-tinged political satire, Great American Taxi features a bevy of talented Boulder musicians on keyboards, guitar, mandolin, banjo bass and drums. The players move effortlessly across the roots-rock spectrum, delivering a fun, danceable performance with tunes steeped in the vintage country rock tradition. Their sets are often unpredictable, with the band playing impromptu covers of songs by the Black Eyed Peas, Frank Zappa and the Beach Boys in addition to their original material, which recalls the 6- and 12-string psychedelic twang of The Byrds and Gram Parsons. They'll be joined at the Tahoe Biltmore by special guest Barry Sless from Phil and Friends. No matter what direction they're headed, you'll enjoy the ride!
