Incline woman to speak at women's expo
Two experts in the fields of “working from home” and “organization” have joined forces to impart their expertise, sign their respective books, and talk to attendees one-on-one at the upcoming Northern Nevada Women’s Expo, to be held April 5 and 6 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
“Combining our areas of expertise is a perfect fit for this venue,” explains Millie Szerman, award-winning author of “A View From The Tub: An Inspiring and Practical Guide to Working From Home” (Stairwell Press; 192 pages, January 2000, $17.95). “With the slumping economy, more and more households are turning to other avenues of income, and working from home fits the bill!”
“In addition,” comments Betsy Van Sicklen Cohen, author of “Wouldn’t You Really Rather Go Shopping?” (Skyhigh Press, 96 pages, October, 2007, $14.95), “getting and staying organized should be a first priority to making that transition! In fact, it’s a priority that most households need but often avoid!”
Aside from becoming friends since Szerman moved to the Lake Tahoe area two years ago, Cohen and Szerman realized that their respective businesses were complimentary. The Northern Nevada Women’s Expo offered a unique opportunity to promote both books and businesses for both women.
In addition to being on hand to answer questions, sell and sign their books and workbooks, Szerman will be giving a 30-minute presentation at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5. The presentation, entitled “Working From Home: Is it a Dream or a Reality for you?” will examine a variety of areas relative to being successful in the work-from-home environment, whether working for yourself or for someone else.
“Today, the work-from-home lifestyle is enticing, but people are ill-equipped for success,” explains Szerman, who has run New Directions, a successful Public Relations business from home for more than twenty years. “Working from home has been recognized as a legitimate way to earn a living. And while nearly 35 million Americans work at least a portion of their workday at home, my book, the new workbook, and the workshop at Women’s Expo, will certainly pave the way and encourage thoughts in this area. In addition, I’m offering an opportunity to interested parties to work with me in a work-from-home coaching situation at reduced fees. It’s a win-win for everyone!”
