Praise should be given when praise is due, and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation is deserving of our praise as a community.
The action they employ to help our community, whether that means helping to keep food on tables or rescuing families from cycles of abuse, is invaluable to Incline Village/Crystal Bay.
Sometimes the bustle of more than 50 nonprofits seems like a lot to handle, but through Parasol's service integration team, they are molded into a seamless, cohesive unit.
To see organizations like Project MANA work with Tahoe Women's Services to help the same family is spectacular, illustrating the power of teamwork in the community.
The SIT brings all of the nonprofits together, making Parasol function as a single entity instead of 55 separate groups with separate agendas. A majority of the funds collected by Parasol, 71 percent, remain in our community, fortifying Incline from the bottom up to present the strongest population we can muster.
Each action taken by Parasol, each new non-profit formed and each program which has taken hold is meant to make our neighborhood a better place in which to live.
And for that, Parasol is worthy of our praise and recognition. It also reminds us to match Parasol's action with that of our own to help our community.
Whether that means volunteering in one or a variety of nonprofits or committing our resources to Parasol, our support only serves to make our surroundings better. Each time you contemplate the strength of Incline, start first with the good people and programs at Parasol, they are the linchpin of our community.
