Mr. Attic goes green with insulation

What homeowner today is not looking for ways to increase the value of their home, save money and do something that is good for the environment?

Even though this sounds like an impossible task, many local homeowners are finding that by installing Cellulose fiber insulation they can do exactly that.

Cellulose fiber insulation has been on the market now in our area for about three years through the company, Mr. Attic. It has already been installed in several local homes, businesses and even at Incline Estates.

Kim Young, the general manager of Mr. Attic, and his staff were on hand Thursday at the GeoTourism Meeting in Kings Beach where they were overwhelmed by the interest and outpouring of the attendees to this conference.

A lot of interest is because the product is environmentally safe.

“We do not use formaldehyde, glass fibers or harmful chemicals during manufacturing,” Young said.

Mr. Attic specializes in installing a cellulose fiber insulation known as COZA®, and the product is being manufactured in their own facility.

“Cellulose is manufactured under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and is treated for fire resistance,” Young said.

Another benefit from the insulation, he said, is that it also acts as a sound barrier.

“We can install this in new homes, existing homes and retros,” Young said.

The COZA® can be sprayed over existing insulation and will actually enhance the existing insulation by reducing convective air currents. Other types of insulation such as fiberglass or materials now used in insulating most homes cannot.

And because Young said that the Cellulose insulation will save the customer a considerable amount in costs and increase the value of the home, they will visit the home and provide free inspections to homeowners and businesses interested in having the insulation installed.

Mr. Attic has even teamed up with Wells Fargo Bank to make it easier to upgrade to the Cellulose insulation.

“Our goal with the financing is to spread out the payment over a long enough period of time to save about the same amount of money each month on your energy bill as the bank payment to fully pay for the upgrade with no cash out of the pocket,” Young said. “After the upgrade is paid for, the money saved is all yours.”

Mr. Attic will fix existing homes to make them more efficient and is offering no interest 36 month payment plans to qualified customers with the help of Wells Fargo Bank.

“It is exciting to see how fast this is catching on and to be doing something that helps the environment at the same time is even better,” Young said.
