For the past six weeks a group of citizens, policy makers and experts have been discussing ways to improve best managment practices in the Tahoe basin. They will present their recommendations at a public meeting on at 6 p.m. Thursday at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach.
The public is invited to hear the recommendations of the forum and to provide feedback and comments. Online participation is also encouraged at OurTahoe.org.
In this project specialists from four agencies (Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Nevada Tahoe Conservation District, Tahoe Resource Conservation District and University of Nevada, Reno) and five citizens who have not implemented BMPs, yet care about the environment, had an opportunity to discuss ways to improve BMPs.
Over the past two months they met in three face-to-face meetings to discuss issues, and had a chance to deliberate in an online forum hosted by OurTahoe.org. The forum was organized by journalism graduate student Kamila Pawlik as an experiment in facilitating community deliberation.
For information, call Kamila Pawlik, (775) 223-4112.
