Frank was an excavating contractor, as well as a photographer who owned and operated the Northstar Photo Shop for 18 years.

John A. “Jack” Eagle
Jack Eagle died of pneumonia March 20, 2008 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
He led an extraordinary life, including the fact that he was a founding father of Incline Village.

He will always be best remembered for being a fountain of quips, quotes and one-liners, as well as a businessman, a world spear fishing record holder and a paddle tennis player par excellence.

Jack was born May 13, 1915 in Salt Lake City.

Both of his parents were exceptional individuals, his mother Victoria Campbell was a direct descendent of the Duke of Argyle and was an original Mayo Clinic nurse. Father Capt. Aubrey Eagle, was an Air Force pilot with a yen “for stunting dangerously” and a pioneer explorer in the late 1920s of the wild interior of Mindoro Island in the Philippines.

Jack spent his early years in the Philippines before his father was stationed in Vancouver, Wash.

Jack attended school at Grant High School in Portland, Ore. where he was a first-team all state basketball player graduating in 1934.

He continued his basketball career after high school at Southern Oregon College, where he was enshrined in the SOC Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
One of his greatest business triumphs was the purchase of Consolidated Amusement Ltd. in 1958. The company was purchased and the individual parts were spun off individually for a significant gain. Profit from that venture was reinvested with Texas and Oklahoma partners to start Incline Village at Lake Tahoe. He is survived by children David, Judy, Jonathan, Mary and Paul. He was predeceased by daughter Sherill Chidiac.

His grandchildren are Rema Chidiac, Camille Chidiac, Christiane Masiello, Lamya Chidiac, Billy Eagle, Sara Eagle and Scott Soderstrom. Great grandchildren are Charles DuPont, Cecilia Masiello and Isabella Masiello.

There will be an informal reception in remembrance of Jack at The Pacific Club from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today with a member RSVP sheet at the front desk.

There will also be a Celebration of Life at the Outrigger Canoe Club between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday.

Jack will be missed by all who knew him.

Helaine Frances Nieto
Helaine Nieto, 58, died peacefully April 21, 2008 with her family by her side at Carson Tahoe Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 22, 1949 to Howard H. and Margaret M. Fassett in San Mateo, Calif.

She was a homemaker. She grew up in California and attended schools in Burlingame and San Carlos, Calif. in the 1960s.

A child of that era she was always bringing home apples and suckers from her Friday night forays to the Avalon Ballroom and The Fillmore Auditorium where she would dance the night away listening to the likes of Jim Morrison, Janice Joplin and others.

She was a free spirit and enjoyed everything that life had to offer. She had lived in California and Colorado before moving to Incline Village in 1992.

It was there that she met and fell in love with Louie. They married on September 8, 1998.

A seventh generation Californian, she had documented bloodlines that go back to the early settling of California in 1775.

Her ancestors came to the State with the DeAnza expedition and settled the San Francisco, San Jose and Monterey areas. In addition to the rich California history of her family she also had seven ancestors who sailed to America on the Mayflower in 1620.

Her life history was as full and diverse as those who came before her. People were drawn to her friendly personality and wild sense of humor and she had a steel-trap for the details of her childhood and life.

She was an extremely creative, quick witted, caring and beautiful individual who will be truly missed by all those who knew her.

Nieto was preceded in death by her father, Howard H., Step-father, Daniel P. Renton, brother Halle H. Fassett and nephew Matthew H. Folwick.

She is survived by her loving husband Louie A. Nieto of Minden, her mother, Peggy M. Renton of Reno, son Dustin D. Oyler of Reno, brother Kit Fassett of Phoenix, Ariz., sisters Hilary (Dave) Dalton of Chico, Calif., and Lynne Folwick, of Reno, nephew Eddie Folwick, niece Michelle Folwick both of Reno, Stepchildren Louis Nieto of Reno, Sandra (Paige) Lopez of Corona, Calif., Susanna (Carlos) Delaisle of Corona, Calif., aunts Ynez Warren of Palo Alto, Calif., Carole Clarke of Menlo Park, Calif., uncle George Vasquez of Reno, several cousins, step grandchildren and her beloved little dog Auggie.

A Memorial Mass will be held on at 2 p.m. Friday June 6, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 701 State Route 431, Incline Village. Internment will be at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Incline Village. Autumn Funeral Home of Carson City is handling arrangements. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
