NEVADA CITY - The lightning seen over the area on Sunday brought 49 "touchdowns" to the Tahoe National Forest and many more throughout the Sierra.
Firefighters patrolled the detection areas, but no fire started from the strikes, according to Ann Westling, public affairs officer on the Tahoe National Forest.
Most of the lightning activity was concentrated in the Sierraville and Downieville vicinity, Westling said.
