Lake Tahoe was recognized Thursday morning on NBC’s “Today Show” as one of the Top 10 places to view Fourth of July fireworks.

The show featured a number of American venues to enjoy July Fourth activities, from parades to festivals to fireworks displays, during its “Today’s Travel” segment.

Mentioned in the Top 10 for fireworks displays were New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., and — Lake Tahoe. The full video clip can be viewed at the Today Show’s Web site at www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032633.

Incline resident Tom Bruno, chair of the Red, White and Tahoe Blue committee, said he was honored when he saw the video clip, because a big part of Tahoe’s July 4 fireworks display happens tonight, as the cap to RWTB in Incline.

“When I heard that, and I saw that, I got chicken skin. I’m just so amazed and thrilled about it, and so is everyone else in the committee,” Bruno said. “I’ve taken a look at the video about four times now, and I just cannot believe it. But it’s not just me; it’s all of us who have worked on this. It’s a whole community effort.”

Bruno, along with the other RWTB committee members, was responsible for bringing the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra to accompany tonight’s fireworks over the Lake. “An Evening on the Green” runs from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight at the Village Green. To buy tickets to the signature event of this year’s Red, White and Tahoe Blue celebration, sponsored by the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, visit the RWTB Web site at www.redwhiteandtahoeblue.com, follow the link to the Shakespeare Web site, and click away. As of Thursday 416 tickets had been sold.
