Incline Village crime log for week of July 15 -21

The following are incident reports submitted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Incline Village Substation for July 15- 21.

Tuesday, July 15
• A 14-year-old girl was left in the parking lot of an 800 block of Tahoe Boulevard doctors office with instructions from her aunt to park the aunt’s car. The youngster was unsuccessful, however, and backed into another car, causing minor damage. Deputies cited the aunt for allowing the underage teen to drive.
• A woman backed into another person’s car and caused minor damage. Deputies took a report.
• Deputies received a report of a vehicular break-in a half mile south of Sand Harbor State Park. The locked vehicle was accessed through a sliding window and an XM satellite radio and cash were stolen. Deputies took a report.
• A woman left her purse in a restaurant’s kitchen and came back later to find it missing. The purse contained about $100 worth of valuables. Deputies took a report.
• Deputies stopped a vehicle because of expired registration on Tahoe Boulevard. Once deputies made contact, they found the male driver had a warrant out for his arrest out of Reno in addition to no insurance or driver’s license.

Wednesday, July 16
• Deputies were patrolling at night when they found cars at a private Incline Village beach. After checking out the beach, deputies found a female suspect with a warrant out for her arrest out of Reno and took her into custody.
• Two men remodeling a house on Second Tee Drive were reported by a neighbor as suspicious. Deputies arrived to check out the home and found the two men were allowed to be there as they were workers, but deputies also found the two men were using marijuana. Both were cited for possession of a controlled substance.
• An extremely intoxicated female was walking along Tahoe Boulevard when she decided to jaywalk and was almost hit by a car. Deputies arrived to arrest the woman.

Thursday, July 17
• A repairman was taking a look at a furnace on Somers Drive when he came upon a human skull. The skull was not recent, however, and was actually part of a collection of Native American artifacts.
• Deputies responded to a call from Lark Court after the owner complained a sliding glass door was shot out by a bb or pellet gun. Deputies are investigating.
• A man and woman both reported the other hit them while reporting a Tanager Drive domestic dispute to deputies. A report was taken by deputies.
• Deputies were dispatched to an Incline bar when an employee said a man was trying to steal beer from the bar’s freezer. Apparently the employee scared the potential thief, because by the time deputies arrived the man was gone.

Friday, July 18
• A woman lost her car wash card on Incline Way and found someone had been using the card to the tune of $80 worth of washes. Deputies took a report and are investigating.
• Deputies stopped a male driver at McCourry Boulevard for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, it was determined his female passenger was in possession of marijuana. Deputies cited her for possession.
• A 20-year-old male called to report his 17-year-old girlfriend was missing at Sand Harbor State Park. Deputies found the female, who was actually missing because she and the boyfriend had a fight. The female was intoxicated so deputies arrested her for minor in consumption of alcohol and cited the male for providing alcohol to minors.
• A man was stopped for speeding while traveling eastbound on State Highway 28 through Crystal Bay. Deputies found the man had no drivers license, no identification and no insurance, as well as marijuana paraphernalia. Deputies arrested him and transported him to the Washoe County detention facility in Reno.
• Deputies stopped a man near the Mt. Rose Summit on State Highway 431 after they noticed he was driving on a suspended registration. Deputies arrested the man after finding he also had no drivers license and no valid insurance.
• Deputies stopped a man for speeding on Tahoe Boulevard. The man was found to be driving on a revoked license due to DUI, so deputies arrested him.
• Deputies pulled over a young male westbound on Tahoe Boulevard near the Northwood Boulevard intersection for failing to maintain his lane of travel. Deputies detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the young man’s truck and asked him to step out of the vehicle. They determined the man was driving under the influence of marijuana and he was arrested for DUI. Less than one ounce of marijuana was found in his vehicle and one passenger was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Saturday, July 19
• A deputy noticed a man walking on a Tahoe Boulevard parking lot and recognized the man was wanted out of El Dorado County, Calif. on a felony warrant. The deputy arrested him and transported him to the Washoe County detention facility.
• A man reported his gun was stolen at some point between April and July from his home on the 900 block of Incline Way. Deputies took a report.
• Deputies responded to a home on the 700 block of Southwood Boulevard where neighbors reported seven to eight males were drinking and firing a gun. Deputies found the men were shooting a small bb gun. Deputies cited two of the males, minors, for minors in consumption of alcohol. They cited one older male for contributing to the delinquency of minors and arrested another for firing a firearm.

Sunday, July 20
• Deputies responded to a report of a party on the 1000 block of Sawmill Road. When they arrived, deputies found young males and females hurling obscenities at them from a deck on the home. One male eventually came down and was arrested for underage drinking.
• A man reported to deputies he was threatened by his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. Deputies found the man was being threatened because he may have been stalking the girlfriend. Deputies took a report.
• A local shopkeeper called to report a female juvenile had shoplifted goods from her store. Deputies found the juvenile, who had hidden the item she shoplifted in another store. The juvenile was cited for shoplifting and released to her parents.
• Deputies pulled over a male after he drove away from a local gas station without yielding to traffic. When they made contact with the male, it was discovered he had two warrants out for his arrest out of Reno, so he was arrested.
• A female driver took a corner too fast on Fairview Boulevard and left the roadway. Deputies say the woman hit a few trees and did extensive damage to the car but she was uninjured.
• Deputies stopped a 56-year-old female coming out of a Crystal Bay-area casino after she failed to turn on her headlights. Upon making contact with the woman, deputies found she was intoxicated and asked her to step from the vehicle. It was also found she had a 25-year-old male in the passenger seat whom she claimed she did not know. The woman failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI.

Monday, July 21
• Deputies recognized a man wanted by Truckee Police for a violation and arrested him. It turns out the man also had a warrant out of Reno for failure to appear in court.
• A homeowner near the California state line called to report a bear was in her house. Deputies chased the bear from the home and found it left a number of stinky presents inside. Deputies alerted the Nevada Division of Wildlife.
• Deputies took a report that a wooden bear was stolen from a local commercial building. The bear’s value is estimated at about $200.
• A male driver was pulled over for speeding on State Highway 28. The man was westbound near the intersection of Red Cedar Drive when he was pulled over. Deputies made contact with the man and found he was intoxicated. The man subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI.
