The Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Foundation presents its third Live it Up! At the Lake fundraiser next Saturday. This unforgettable day of pampering, fun, food and drink ends with an ultimate private performance by Grammy-award winning artist Rita Coolidge, known as “The Delta Lady.”

The Mediterranean theme of this event allows guests to wander along the acres of lush gardens on the private Tahoe Treasure Estate on Lakeshore Boulevard in Incline. From the time they arrive at 2 p.m. and continuing until 4 p.m. guests are invited to enter the natural Tahoe forests on the estate that have been transformed into a spa for a health and wellness a la carte program. In the spa guests are invited to relax, enjoy and be pampered with chair, hand and foot massages or learn about Nordic walking, yoga, Pilates and other ways to relax and reduce stress in their life.

The afternoon at the estate will include music, artisan cheese platters, signature sandwiches and tapas, along with beer, wine and Mojitos inside the café. They also can partake of the lively conversations and demonstrations including Incline local Chuck Greene talking about Tahoe, or listen to the chef about cooking and the wine sommelier on wines. A silent and live auction also will take place after 4 p.m.

As the evening begins, guests will be invited to a lakeside dinner to enjoy Epicurean appetizers and an unforgettable lakeside dinner prepared on-site by Men Wielding Fire, followed by Coolidge’s private performance.

Throughout the event the foods and beverages including both the wines and beer selected feature organic and healthy choices.

“Vendors were selected because they exemplified our choices for healthy and natural and promote wellness,” said Michelle Schmitter. Schmitter is the development manager for the Carson Tahoe Regional Health Care Foundation.

Beers for the event are from Wolaver’s certified organic ales and will feature both brown ale and Indiana pale ale. Cleavage Creek Cellars will provide wines. The owner of this winery, Budge Brown, lost his wife to breast cancer and now donates proceeds from his Winery for breast cancer research.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

“We are different from what is offered in Truckee,” Schmitter said. “We are fully accredited with all services in one place.”

The Carson Tahoe Cancer Center opened in 2006. It is part of an 80-acre medical campus that, along with several outpatient locations, provides health care throughout Northern Nevada and Northern California. It allows patients to access all the services and treatments they need to fight and beat cancer in a single location; linking treatment delivery with attention to the entire well-being of the patient. In this healing environment, patients are offered the latest in hope and treatment through state-of-the art technology and equipment.

Last year Carson Tahoe Cancer Services met accreditation standards, earning the prestigious honor of nine commendations, set by the Committee on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. To learn more about Carson Tahoe Cancer Center go to www.carsontahoe.com.

“Because the Lake Tahoe community may not be as familiar with the Carson Cancer Center, we have produced a video that we feel gives a good snapshot of our center, services and staff,” said Cheri Glockner, Carson Tahoe’s Director of Development and Public Relations.
