Impressed with community support

I am one of the proud 2005 scholarship recipients from the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter AC organization. Each year, they host a scholarship fundraiser, Tastes of Incline, for local students to help raise money for their college education.

Growing up I knew that the only way I would be able to attend college after high school would be with the help of scholarships and grants. Fortunately, I worked hard enough in high school to earn the scholarships that have continued to pay my way through college.

I cannot express in words alone how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to pursue my college career. The concept that the community can donate money, even in the smallest amount, and in the end it can make all of the difference in the world to one student is remarkable! This semester I will be attending my third year at both University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College. My intended major at UNR is Nutritional Sciences, with a minor in Spanish.

I have also completed courses at TMCC for Emergency Medical Technician and Massage Therapy. One of my long-term goals is to make enough money so that I can give back to the community and provide educational avenues for those willing to pursue them.

I will proudly be attending the Tastes of Incline fundraiser this Thursday to show my appreciation not only to P.E.O. Sisterhood, but also to the community. Thank you.
