Rex Lewis-Clack coming to Incline in October

Incline residents could see CBS’s “60 Minutes” television crew in October when the news magazine comes to film a third segment on piano savant Rex Lewis-Clack.

The crew, Lewis-Clack and his mother will visit Incline Village for Rex’s Oct. 12 keynote performance at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort.

“He has really developed through his performances so Cathleen suggested CBS film one,” said Elyse Gut, who is organizing the visit for the Children’s Cabinet event. “They latched onto that and wanted to just film his performance but what is really funny is the people coming here from CBS have never been to Tahoe so they are really excited about this. They have just kind of expanded this whole thing and they filming the entire segment here.”

The Children’s Cabinet at Incline Village will present Rex and Cathleen, as they share their story and journey in a keynote address at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino in Incline Village.

Rex is a 13-year-old musical savant. He is one of a handful of people in the world who share a mysterious combination of blindness, mental disability, and musical genius. His striking abilities in contrast to his disabilities have been documented by CBS’ news magazine “60 Minutes” since he was 8 years old.

The event will begin at the Hyatt's Regency Ballroom with an introduction followed by Cathleen’s keynote address and Rex’s performance on a concert grand piano.

A 30-minute question and answer session will follow this presentation. An advanced release of Cathleen’s memoir “REX” will be available to Children’s Cabinet for this event, giving attendees the opportunity to meet Cathleen during a book signing immediately following the presentation.

Choose between general admission seating at $35 per ticket or preferred seating at $60 per ticket (limited availability) for the performance. Youth tickets for children 18 years or younger are available for $20 each. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., a casual reception with cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres will be held in the intimate setting of the Lakeside Ballroom overlooking Lake Tahoe. This reception gives attendees an opportunity to meet Rex and Cathleen while sharing the experience of the performance with other attendees. Tickets for the reception are $100 per person.

Tickets will be available at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Proft center at 948 Incline Way or call (775)831-7989.
