It looks as if things are really starting to gel for the Incline High School varsity volleyball team.
A week after enjoying a three-game sweep at Silver Stage High School, the girls got another sweep Friday at Pershing County High School in Lovelock, Nev.
Incline swept Northern 2A foe Lovelock (25-18, 25-19 and 25-16), improving its record to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the Northern 2A.
“My team played together and stayed tough throughout the whole match,” said IHS coach Tacy Kelly. “We had a long bus ride, but my team showed up ready to play. They stayed focused through the whole match to bring a win home.”
Incline senior Sara Norris led the way for Incline, recording 14 kills, 3 blocks, 1 ace and 10 digs. Aziza Seykota also had a big match, recording 3 kills, 3 aces and 10 digs for the Lady Highlanders.
“Lovelock has a lot of energy, but we managed to steal the energy from them. We didn't give them a chance to take the momentum away from us,” Kelly said. “My girls felt strong and played strong. Our serves were tough which made it hard for Lovelock to be effective with there offense. We were ready for anything to come back at us.”
Other stats for Incline from Friday’s match include: Cassie McGinty (2 kills); Lexi Dewey (25 assists); Chandler McCunn (14 digs, 3 aces); Jitana Alba (2 kills, 8 digs); Tori McCunn (1 block, 12 digs, 15 passes); Shanna Murray (2 kills, 1 block, 37 assists); and Shana Moore (1 ace, 4 digs).
Next up for Incline is a 1 p.m. home match Saturday against Mineral County (Hawthorne) High School.
After school resumes from this week’s October break, the Lady Highlanders then play a 4 p.m. home match against rival North Tahoe.
