Tahoe Women's Services 20th Annual Chocolate & Wine Festival will return to the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach, Saturday, Nov. 8. In celebration of the big anniversary, TWS is adding new attractions, including a live performance by special guests Mumbo Gumbo.

Discerning tastes have come to expect the exceptional chocolate prepared by Tahoe's finest chefs and delicious wine from select boutique wineries. Our famous balloon grab is returning, along with newly invigorated silent and live auctions with bidding on dream vacations, gifts and surprises. Other attractions include emcee Ed Miller and mouth-watering catering by Mountain Magic. But that is just the beginning. New this year, there will be a cash bar of chocolate inspired cocktails. As usual, guests vote for their favorite chocolate. But for the first time, guests can vote for their favorite red and white wines. Throughout the evening, Mumbo Gumbo will keep the things exciting with their unique blend of rock and soul, afro-pop and lush balladry, zydeco and country — the sound of pure joy. At 10 p.m. we will clear the tables to make room for the dancing that comes so naturally.

Advance tickets are available immediately for only $50, or $90 for two. Purchase tickets by visiting our website at www.tahoewomenservices.org or calling (775) 298-0010. Parking at the Conference Center will be free, but tickets purchased at the door will be $60, if available.

Through a collaboration between Tahoe Women's Services, the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe and the local chapter of the American Red Cross, childcare is available for a minimal fee. Teams of staff and certified babysitters will provide childcare from 5:00-10:30 at the Boys and Girls Club, practically across the street from the Chocolate & Wine Festival. Children must be at least 4-years-old, and potty trained. The kids’ night will feature pizza and dessert, a game room and art projects, movie room, and quiet room for sleepyheads. All staff and certified babysitters are trained and certified by the American Red Cross. The cost is only $15 for one child, or $25 per family. Call the Boys and Girls Club at (530) 546-4324 to reserve your spot.

Tahoe Women's Services is a local, non-profit dedicated to reducing the incidence and trauma of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities. We have direct service offices in Incline Village, Truckee, Kings Beach, and Tahoe City, and the 6-bed Mountain Rose Safe House in a confidential location. We operate the only 24/7 Community Help Line in this region, and provide violence prevention presentations to local schools, businesses, and other organizations in the North Lake Tahoe area. TWS believes that every person has the right to live a life free of violence. The agency works to empower victims in reclaiming those rights by providing safety, advocacy, education and support.

The Chocolate & Wine Festival is Tahoe Women's Services’ largest fundraiser, and is a celebration of the survivors in our community. By incorporating their stories into the merriment, we recognize their bravery and determination, share our passion with you, and ensure the continuation of programs that help us all. Proceeds from this event support vital services, such as peer counseling, legal advocacy, children's programs, and safe shelter.
