Classic Car Owner:
Curtis McLachlan
McLachlan considers his collection of Classic vehicles his “metal art.” He found his ‘74 Rolls Royce SS Silver Shadow in the back yard of an Incline resident and bought it. He decided not to restore it but instead to convert it into a street rod with a Chevy 502/502 engine. It took him a year and a half to complete with its all Italian leather interior, 18 inch Rolls Royce rims, new wiring, new stereo and tv. McLachlan uses the classic for weddings and parades.
“I wouldn’t have a car if I didn’t drive it,” he said. “I don’t own a trailer queen.”

The Pantera is definitely my favorite. I’ve owned it for well over 25 years, and I can’t imagine ever not having it. It’s a real “fire-breather” and has exceeded all my expectations. With 550 horsepower and incredible handling it does it all.

Classic Car Owner: Dean Meiling
“I rarely show my cars. Driving them is what I prefer. Although the cars are kept in excellent running order, they have some nicks and chips. They aren’t trailer queens,” Meiling said. He has also raced his cars all over the world and has had a life-long interest in cars.
How many Classic Cars do you own?
I own several street and race cars.
What is your favorite Classic Car?
Among the cars I own, it is tough to pick an overall favorite because my reasons for wanting them varied depending on how I wanted to use them. For touring events, my favorite is the Jaguar XKSS because of its great looks and stunning performance. For track events, I have greatly enjoyed racing my Maserati A6GCS, an early 50’s endurance racer. With its relatively skinny tires and drum brakes, it handles quite differently from more modern cars with wider tires and disc brakes. Yet, driving it well is highly satisfying.
What was the first Classic Car you owned?
The first classic that I acquired was the XKSS Jaguar. I was attracted to it because of its versatility as both a car that was raced in-period and a car that is still great fun to drive on touring events today. In September we drove it over 1,000 miles on Colorado mountain roads
What is your dream car?
My dream car is a Ferrari 250 Short Wheel Base, another car that could be driven on the street as well as raced and looks super even when its standing still.
