Seeking sports sponsorships

You may have seen the article in the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza encouraging local residents and businesses to sponsor their favorite Incline High School athletic team (or teams) by purchasing a banner to be placed in the IHS gymnasium and on the IHS football/soccer field for this school season. These will be moved from one venue to the next dependent upon activities that are taking place.

The Washoe County School District covers the cost of travel for High School Athletic Teams to and from league or conference games. The Incline High School Boosters cover the cost of uniforms as well as equipment and many other incidentals too numerous to list. The unfortunate reality, however, is that virtually every sports program at the school is still under funded. We need to cover the cost of tournament entry fees, travel to and from non-league venues, and practice gear/equipment in an effort to remain competitive and to provide our athletes with the best opportunities available. Your donation will assist us in our endeavor to expose our children to the highest quality experience possible.

We are requesting a minimum donation of $500 plus the cost of the banner (estimated at $100), or you can provide banners that you already have in your business that would be anywhere from 2 feet by 3 feet up to 3 feet by 5 feet. You can certainly create (or have us create) two banners (an additional $100 if we order it) so that we don’t have to move them, but regardless, we will make sure that your banner is properly displayed. In accordance with Washoe County School District Policy the banners cannot promote the sale or use of any tobacco or alcoholic products. We would ask that you clear the banner design with one of us in advance should there be any questions about its content.

Your donation can be designated to any sport or sports as you see fit. For example, you may want to designate 50 percent to baseball, 25 percent to softball and 25 percent to wrestling. You can also request that your funds go into the general athletic fund. Monies in this account are set aside to cover unexpected costs within that budget. Additionally, coaches can request monies from this fund for costs associated with their respective teams. The IHS athletic department has created a three person committee made up of coaches to review and approve or disapprove those requests.

The $500 donation would cover one school year. Our intention is to make this renewable for each subsequent year. We will create a billing system whereby each July we will send out an invoice for the upcoming school year. This will allow sponsors to decide well in advance whether they want to continue with said sponsorship.

IHS will make sure the money goes directly into the account of the sport or sports that you want to sponsor. Your banner will immediately be displayed on the field and in the gym, and 100 percent of the donation goes to the kids.

The entire coaching staff at Incline High School is involved in this endeavor; however, in an effort to minimize confusion about the program please coordinate all orders through coach Bill Devine. Any member of the coaching staff, as well as athletic director Dan Schreiber, can answer questions about the program, but all orders will go through one person in order to streamline the process.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing your banner on the field and in the gym.

To learn more or to donate, call Bill Devine, cross country, track and field and girls' basketball coach at (775) 544-7385 or Dan Schreiber, athletic director and boys' basketball coach at (775) 832-4260.
