INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. -You can learn how to spell the word love in a unusual way at the Christmas County Spelling Bee.
If it all goes well at the end everyone should have goosebumps, said Monica Rice. Rice is a member of the North Tahoe Community Church congregation and also a member of the cast of Christmas County Spelling Bee, this years annual holiday program for the Incline church.
Rices part is judge of the spelling bee. I am always thrilled when they ask me to be a part of one of the programs, Rice said.
As the story of the musical spelling bee unfolds, the children will sing and dance throughout the spelling competition.
The music is great, said program director Carol Bell. It teaches the names used in both the old and new testaments for Jesus and it tells the Christmas story.
The program includes children from preschool to adults in a spelling bee competition that takes place in a little town hall.
Ben Koch, 8, has been in the North Tahoe Community Church productions since he played baby Jesus when he was six months old.
I play Randy Richards, contestant No. 11 in the spelling bee, he said. Koch also plays a Wise man and bongo drums in the program.
I am a dancer and also sing a solo in The Everlasting Father, said Lauren Golden, also 8. Golden has been a part of His Kids and North Tahoe Community Church programs for about four years.
Another dancer in the program, Morgan Fisher, 7, has been in the program for three years.
It is a lot of fun, she said. My favorite part is when the cheerleaders do the pyramid.
The community is invited to enjoy this energetic and delightful production at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the gym at Incline High School. This is a perfect way to enjoy the holiday season and be completely entertained by His Kids.
