INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The majority of south Incline Village and Crystal Bay is without power indefinitely, an official with NV Energy said.
NV Energy workers are investigating a "recloser" cable along Lakeshore Boulevard in Incline, said NV Energy Spokeswoman Faye Anderson. The cable malfunctioned around 1 p.m. today, Anderson said, although it's unclear if the cable failed or just activated.
"It may have just operated," Anderson said. "The way it works is if it sense something is wrong, like maybe a branch is in the way, it will operate to cut off power."
It is unclear how long power will be out, or how many homes and/or business are affected, Anderson said.
"They're up there right not, in trucks and on foot, seeing what the problem is," she said.
Once workers determine what happened, it then can be determined how long power will be out. Areas affected include most of Crystal Bay and mainly areas in southern Incline Village, south of State Route 28.
