INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The first national championship for the Sierra Nevada College ski team came Thursday as the mens team won the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Skiing Associations National Championships in Winter Park, Colo.
The team edged Utahs Westminster College, who had beat the Eagles womens team Wednesday in GS.
Sophomore Matyas Mleziva placed second in the event with a two-run combined time of 1 minute, 57.66 seconds.
Junior Mickey Ross was the next Eagle across the line in fourth place with a 1:58.56. Sophomore Kevin Sheehan rounded out the Eagles scoring attack with a 2:00.04.
The men are next in action Saturday for slalom competition.
