LAKE TAHOE According to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service in Reno, the Lake Tahoe Basin should see steady snow showers into Tuesday evening.
The highest concentration of snow will be from near Truckee and Lake Tahoe eastward through Reno and Carson City. Another band of snow, at times heavy, will affect areas east of Lovelock and Fallon. Additional snow also is expected in Mono and Mineral counties.
Travelers in Interstate 80, roads around Lake Tahoe and U.S. Routes 395 and 50 should be impacted, according to NWS.
Light snow accumulation is possible, mainly in grassy areas and elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.
According to Wednesday's forecast, there is a 20 percent chance of snow showers, with a high near 34.
Sunny skies are expected to return Thursday, and temperatures are forecast in the low to mid 60s as the weekend approaches.
