INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The Sierra Nevada College snowboard team competed in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Associations Southern California region competition last weekend at Mammoth Mountain in California.
During Saturdays slopestyle event, the women earned two top-10 finishes, with Jesse Kott placing third and Devon Crowther, sixth.
The men dominated the event, led by Tucker Norreds second place. Spencer Cordovano was fourth, Austen Butler came in fifth, while Spencer Reeves and Rob McNamara finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
In Sundays boardercross event, Crowther finished fifth, while McNamara, Cordovano and Reeves were second, fourth and seventh, respectively, in the mens competition.
We had gorgeous, gorgeous weather, and it was a killer time, said coach Jeff Corrado. We love going down to the Southern California region to compete with our neighbors, and all our guys had a ton of fun.
The event is the last formal competition of the season for SNC, as well as for the schools competing in the Southern California conference. That explains the festivities on Sunday, which included a bikini run to close things out.
All of our guys really enjoyed it, Corrado said, and my girls hadnt been there yet, so they were just kind of blown away. They had a good time down there.
As his athletes focus on finishing up the semester, Corrado will do his best to make sure people eat right, stay healthy, stay in decent shape and basically stay out of trouble, he said.
