Lunch with Wayne Newton one of many Fur Ball prizes

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Yes, four lucky couples have the opportunity to have lunch with Wayne Newton at his 100-acre ranch, Casa de Shenandoah in Las Vegas. But wait, there’s more. It includes a tour of his Arabian horse breeding operation too.

Or, if you prefer, eight couples can join Gov. Jim Gibbons for lunch at the Governor’s Mansion. All you have to do is bid on these incredible items at the live auction during Saturday’s Pet Network’s Annual Fur Ball.

Each year when the Pet Network announces its annual Fur Ball the community waits to learn what exotic and fun items will appear in the spectacular live auction. And each year it seems to top the incredible items from the previous auction.

Other items that will be available include three nights in Carmel, Calif., just a block from the beach with two rounds of golf at Quail Ridge Golf Club as well as dining at the Casa Nova Restaurant; Chef Mark Estee in your home cooking dinner for eight; two nights at one of Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe’s cottages along with a couple’s massage at the Stillwater Spa and dinner at the Lone Eagle Grille for four; and a private tour of Robert M. Lee’s private car collection of more than 200 antique, vintage and classic autos.

The silent auction that is held before the dinner also is packed with wonderful baskets, getaways, art, wine and other unique items waiting for lucky bidders.

But the purpose of the Fur Ball is what really makes this event such an important fundraiser. The Pet Network has held a Fur Ball now for 11 years as its major fundraiser to support its work with rescuing animals from euthanasia and finding loving homes for each animal.

If you have not yet purchased a ticket to this event, do so immediately as they are almost sold out. The Fur Ball is from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 30, in the Lakeside Ballroom at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe. To purchase a ticket, $200 per person, e-mail Nikki at nmcginn@petnetwork or call (775) 832-3882.

I hope to see you there.
