School will soon be out and summer brings a lot of spare time to learn or try new things. Horseback riding can be a fun activity for a birthday party, a family activity or just because you want to know what it is like to ride a horse. Don't be surprised if you like horseback riding so much you want to do it more than once.

We have so many places in our area where you can take a trail ride with guides and even areas that provide meals along with the trail rides. The trail rides that include meals would make fun birthday parties or family activities. Here is a short list of some in our area, but you can find lots more in both Reno and Carson City.

Alpine Meadows: 355 Alpine Meadows Road, Tahoe City, Calif. (530) 583-3905

Camp Richardson: Highway 89, South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530) 541-3113

Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center: 15275 Alder Creek Rd, Truckee, Calif. (530) 587-9470

Zephyr Cove Stables: Highway 50, Zephyr Cove, Nev. (775) 588-5664.

Don't forget to enter our contests now that you have spare time too. We have a contest for My Dad's a Hero and the Red, White and Tahoe Blue Coloring Contest. If you need information about the contests, go online to www.tahoebonanza.com and locate the contests section under entertainment.

Happy Trails!
