Truckee man, 19, arrested for assault with deadly weapon



TRUCKEE, Calif. — Police arrested a man last week after he allegedly swerved at a construction zone flagger on Donner Pass Road.

According to a Truckee Police Department press release, William J. Carter, 19, allegedly swerved dangerously close to an authorized traffic control person near the west end of Donner Lake around 10:30 a.m. June 18, according to witnesses that called 911 to report the incident. Carter was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

It is unknown as of this writing Carter's place of residence.

Police began checking the Donner Lake area and located the vehicle by description and a partial license plate given by the 911 caller, according to the press release, and damage on the vehicle was consistent with reports the vehicle struck the flagger's stop sign.

Carter allegedly admitted to recently driving and being involved in an altercation with construction crews, according to the release.

Police stressed that all motorists are required by law to obey traffic control personnel.
