Tahoe City's McKnight faces Monday pretrial hearing

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — John McKnight, the Tahoe City man accused of making criminal threats against residents in the Lake Forest neighborhood and wielding a loaded weapon earlier this month, faces a pretrial hearing Monday morning.

McKnight's hearing is at 10 a.m. Monday at the Placer County Superior Court in Tahoe City. The hearing comes one week after McKnight's initial court appearance was postponed to give the 61-year-old Lake Forest resident additional time to build a defense.

According to witnesses and law enforcement, on June 15 McKnight threatened neighbors at his home on Lake Forest Road with a loaded handgun and posted an anti-semitic sign in his driveway.

Deputies were called to the scene, but not before McKnight fled and was arrested by Truckee police at the intersection of Highway 267 and Interstate 80, allegedly intoxicated.

McKnight is charged with five felonies and four misdemeanors in the incident.
