INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Soon-to-be Incline High School senior Katie Wright just can't stop winning.

Wright shot a 73 on Monday and 77 Tuesday en route to a first-place finish in the Nevada State Junior Amateur golf tournament.

The tourney features many of the state's best female golfers from Southern and Northern Nevada.

She recorded 11 birdies and one eagle during the two-day tourney, which served as the second round of qualifying for the Junior Golf Big I tournament held in Oklahoma.

However, Wright will give up her spot in Oklahoma to keep her captain position in the Junior Golf Girls America's Cup that takes place the same weekend as the Big I July 28 to 30 at Logan Golf and Country Club in Utah.

Wright's win in Nevada was her second straight, and the third straight for Incline Village. Two years ago, Shelby Hooper, Wright's former teammate on the IHS golf team and a 2008 graduate, won the state title.

Wright also is qualified for the 2009 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships, which takes place July 13 to 17 in San Diego. Wright played in the tourney last year, but was hampered by a major illness.

In the boys version of the Nevada State Junior Amateur golf tournament this week, Katie's brother, soon-to-be Incline sophomore Jordan, stepped into the 15-17 age division this year, shooting an 84 and 79 to finish ninth.
