INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Last year during the Oktoberfest activities at the Village Center, a new event was introduced to our community called the Monster Dash. This is definitely one of the most unusual events held during the many activities of October. The event is back this year, Saturday, Oct. 17, and promises to be extremely popular as a community event.
The Monster Dash is both a 5K run and walk so all ages can compete as well as all fitness levels. But what makes it so unusual is that participants are encouraged to wear costumes as they run or walk. Think about it — mummies and ghosts running wild through the village while Red Riding Hood or a kitty walks behind. Definitely provides some entertainment. The event winds through the village so that it also provides opportunities for watching, cheering and of course laughing as the creatures dash along.
Registration is available both online or by picking up a form prior to the race for $25 for adults and $15 for students. Registration will also be available at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Village Center however is $30 for adults on race day. Student prices remain the same. All proceeds from this event benefit the Incline High School cross country team. The first 100 entries will all receive a T-shirt. Forms are online at active.com or can be picked up at Incline High School, the Hacienda or North Lake Tahoe Bonanza.
So now it is up to you — do you want to run with the monsters or walk?
