Fireside Chat with Ben and Margaret Solomon

Andy Whyman will interview Margaret and Ben Solomon up close and personal at 7 p.m. at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences at Sierra Nevada College. This Fireside Chat will introduce first hand this amazing couple who have been instrumental in the history of Sierra Nevada College. Coffee and dessert provided. This event is part of SNC's month-long 40th anniversary celebration.

Keyser Soze at CBC

Keyser Soze will host a free dance party in the Crown Room at the Crystal Bay Casino.

Saturday, Oct. 24

TRTA Halloween and harvest time hike for families

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association offers a 1.2 mile interpretive trail hike in the Tahoe Meadows from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for families with children ages 5 and up. The hike will not be strenuous, and will be broken up with games, stories and other hands-on activities. $10,000 Maestros for Music Charity Poker Tournament for CYMBAL

The Grand Lodge Casino at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is hosting a two-day poker tournament offering a $10,000 prize purse on Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds benefit the CYMBAL program which offers local children the opportunity to excel in music. Community appreciation free pancake breakfast

As part of part of Sierra Nevada College's month-long 40th anniversary celebration, students, alumni, faculty and staff, along with the community, are invited for a free pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. in Patterson Hall. For information call (775) 831-1314.

Annual fall fundraiser Foam Fest

From 7 to 10:30 p.m. is the 20th annual Foam Fest, a fundraiser for Disabled Sports USA Far West. The festival will be held at the Tahoe Biltmore in Crystal Bay. This year's event will feature microbrew tasting from more than 40 breweries, live music by Momentum, appetizers, the famous Hit the Slopes raffle and a gathering of friends getting together to support a great local cause. There will be discounts for designated drivers as well as discounts for lodging at the Biltmore. For tickets and further information call (530) 581-4161. Admission is $30 in advance and $35 at the door and includes a commemorative glass.

David Starfire returns to CBC

The Crystal Bay Club and Champagne and Bacon bring back David Starfire to one of his favorite haunts, North Lake Tahoe, as he performs in the Red Room at the Crystal Bay Club.

Sunday, Oct. 25

Pet Network holds purse auction

Pet Network is holding an auction of gently used designer handbags from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. Light refreshments will be available.
