INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Both Incline soccer teams defeated Sparks in their regular-season finales on the road Thursday, with the boys winning 3-1 and the girls 1-0.

The Highlander boys finished a perfect 8-0 in Sierra League play to earn the league's No. 1 seed and homefield advantage in Tuesday's Northern 3A Regional tournament opener against Spring Creek, the Humboldt League's No. 4 seed. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Incline's boys carry a 19-1-1 overall record on the season, and 14-0 against all of the Northern 3A, into the postseason.

Incline's girls finished 6-2 in the Sierra League (12-3 vs. 3A, 12-7 overall) to earn the league's No. 2 seed and a first-round home game against third-seeded Lowry of the Humboldt League. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m.

After Tuesday's first-round games, the regional tournament moves to Churchill County High School (Fallon) on Friday and Saturday. Check the NIAA website at www.niaa.com to view the brackets.

In a rematch between the top-ranked boys teams in Northern Nevada this past Thursday, Incline senior Alex Reyes scored two goals and Edgar Anguiano one goal to lead the boys past the host Railroaders. Sparks (5-2-1 league, 12-3-2 overall), as it did in the teams' previous meeting on Oct. 6, took an early lead with a goal in the seventh minute before the Highlanders took control.

The Railroaders will host third-seeded Lowry (6-1-3) of the Humboldt League on Tuesday.

In the girls' game, Incline senior Kelli Cherry scored the go-ahead goal late in the first half.

Sparks (2-5-1 league, 7-6-2 overall) finished third in the Sierra league and will play at Fernley (8-4-0), the second-seeded Humboldt League team, on Tuesday.
