A snowstorm Friday could be just what area ski resorts need in anticipation of large holiday crowds.
LAKE TAHOE — Where'd this come from?
A day after a picturesque Thanksgiving in the Lake Tahoe Basin, the National Weather Service is forecasting a small winter storm to sweep through the area, with as much as a half-foot of snow potentially falling at lake level, granting a post-Thanksgiving wish to area ski resorts expecting big crowds this holiday weekend.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Lake Tahoe from noon to midnight Friday, with the heaviest snowfall expected to fall between 2 and 9 p.m. Four to six inches is forecast at lake level, with 6 to 10 inches expected above 7,000 feet.
The storm could linger into Saturday, NWS reports, with a 50 percent chance of snow in the forecast. Sunny skies and highs in the low- to mid-40s are forecast Sunday through next week.
