From 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences the Lake Tahoe School and the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center will host the fifth annual Science Expo.
The event will examine the science of energy and matter in a child-friendly way. The students will see the program during the day on Thursday and Friday, said Heather Segale, U.C. Davis education and outreach coordinator at Sierra Nevada College.
This year's expo features 20 different hands-on experiments and investigations for the participants. The program is a collaboration between Lake Tahoe School and the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center. Participants will get to perform experiments dealing with states of matter, properties of matter, types of variables and cause-and-effect. Light and various forms of water, including dry ice, will be featured. The program is designed for elementary-aged children as well as “curious adults.”
