Your kid ever cried over math? I see it all the time. So imagine my surprise last week. I was working with a brand new member of the Boys and Girls Club in Power Hour, our after-school tutoring program. First time I've ever seen this little girl. She's very shy. We're struggling along with math.
In walks mom. Little girl runs to mom's arms and starts crying. Mom leads her from the room. I figured I'd been the cause of another little kid crying over math. Mom brings kid back in the room about 10 minutes later. I took the opportunity to take mom aside and apologize for making her little girl cry over math on her very first day at the Boys and Girls Club.
Mom tells me: ‘Oh, she wasn't crying because of the math; she loves math. She was crying because she thought I was there to take her home, and she wanted to stay at the club!' Little girl is now one of my regulars in Power Hour.
Want your kid to have a great day? Bring him/her to the Boys and Girls Club in Kings Beach.
