Summer seems to be ending quickly and it will be awhile for the next season to get going but don't let that stop you from having fun locally. The local Women's Club of North Tahoe has planned a fun event in Incline that can add to your entertainment schedule and help with scholarships to local students.
The ladies have planned a little twist to the annual fashion show and luncheon. The theme for the event is “The Way We Were.” This promises to bring lots of laughs, along with great food creations.
Vintage fashions will be the focus of the annual style show. Some incredible outfits will be provided by Linda Offerdahl's Dress the Part(y) and modeled by the ladies of the club.
Offerdahl plans to work through the decades with her fashions starting with flappers and the Gatsby look of the 20s and moving into the 40s. Included will be a military theme with an actual Women's Army Corps (WACS) uniform making a special appearance. Then the show will continue into the 50s and 60s featuring rock and roll styles — oh yes, you get to see the famous poodle skirts, swing dresses, prom dresses from days gone by and even some hippie styles. But you can expect some extras too — Jackie O styles, classic suits and hats, hats and more hats.
The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at The Chateau. A spectacular lunch featuring appetizers, salads and some sparkling wine will be part of the events along with door prizes, raffles and a silent auction. Another fun part of the luncheon is that all ladies attending are encouraged to wear hats as prizes will be awarded for best hats at the luncheon. Now is the time to bring out the hats ladies!
To purchase tickets for “The Way We Were” stop at Dress the Part(y) in the Village Center or call Pati Cox at 775-831-3524. Tickets are $50 and proceeds go to support local high school scholarships and the North Lake Tahoe communities.
Don't miss this fun way to bring you out of the end of summer slump and remember the fashions that have made ladies turn the heads of all through the decades.
