INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — A pillar of the Incline Village business community is packing his bags and heading east for the Big Apple.
Mark Pardue, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village has been appointed general manager of the Grand Hyatt New York at Grand Central Station in New York City.
Pardue came to Incline Village in July 2006. He will assume responsibilities in New York — the flagship of the Hyatt Corporation — as of mid-September.
“Lake Tahoe is such a special place and I will miss this incredible resort, the people and the beauty of this location,” Pardue said in a written statement.
Pardue expressed mixed feelings toward the relocation in a recent telephone interview, saying the opportunity for he and his family is too good to pass up, but he will sincerely miss the people and environment in Incline Village.
“The residents of Incline Village and beyond have always been warm and welcoming, and I've been fortunate to have been involved with several regional philanthropic and community-driven organizations during my time here,” he said.
During Pardue's tenure, the Hyatt was the beneficiary of numerous awards, consisting of an inclusion on the “Top 50 Ski resorts in North America” by Conde Nast Traveler in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and a “2009 Green Business Leader” award from Keep The Sierra Green in recognition of the resort's efforts to establish green initiatives and sustainable business practices.
The Hyatt also hosted the Special Olympics Celebrity Winterfest in 2010 and the Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project in 2009 and 2010.
“In leading the team at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, I feel we have accomplished great things together, and now I look forward to embarking on a new successful endeavor at Grand Hyatt New York,” he said.
Pardue will be replaced by Fred Findlen, formerly with Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina.
