The North Tahoe Junior Midget Rams continued their solid play of late with a 46-21 win at the Douglas Tigers last Friday night.
The Rams scored first and often, being able to run the ball at will, anchored by a strong effort by the offensive line and tough downhill running by Toomy Thompson and Kelsey Philpott. The first half was highlighted by a touchdown reception by Alex Zissis that ricochade off the foot of a Douglas defender.
The second half was dominated by both the offensive and defensive lines with all players contributing. The Rams get a rematch with the Reno Wolf Pack in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night in Reno, feeling confident with recent victories and the fact that everyone has recovered from early season injuries.
Pee Wee Rams fall to Sparks
The North Tahoe Junior Pee Wee Rams faced the Sparks Steelers last Saturday, holding the Steelers to only 6 points in the first half, highlighted by Preston Hoff's interception on Sparks' first offensive play.
The Rams again owned time of possession, but were unable to score, bogging down in the red zone numerous times. Halftime adjustments by the Steelers, and mental mistakes by a young Rams teams sealed the 26-0 Sparks win. The Tams play at South Tahoe on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the first round of the playoffs.
