LAKE TAHOE — Truckee resident Chris Bartkowski won the Sierra Sun's and North Lake Tahoe Bonanza's 2011 winter photo contest.
Chris' photo “Late Fall,” taken November 2010, shows leaves and snow at Donner Lake. It earned 396 votes among online readers at both websites to win first place.
In all, 130 photos were entered in the online contest, sponsored by Vista Gallery and Framing. Bartkowski won a $300 prize to go toward framing and displaying the winning photo at the Tahoe Vista gallery.
Truckee resident Joel Lynch's untitled photo of a black bear walking in the woods near Armstrong Tract by Truckee, in January 2011, earned 273 votes, good for second place.
Third place went to Incline Village resident Keri Oberly, whose photo “Icy Dock” from March 2011 showed icicles forming on a dock at Ski Beach in Incline. She received 30 votes.
The Sun and Bonanza will soon host a spring/summer photo contest. Stay tuned to each paper for information when it becomes available.
